Updated Notification

Dear WAGS Families,

Due to the Prime Ministers announcement that we are now at Level 3, WAGS will be closed as of midnight 23rd March

There will be NO classes for the next 4 weeks.

For those keen gymnasts, there are always trees to swing on and lawn to handstand and cartwheel on.  And for the really keen, splits and conditioning and you tube! So keep doing that!  We want to see you back ready to go!

We would love to see what you get up to during the break so do post onto our facebook page.

Look after your precious families and we will see you back when this is all over.

We will let you know when that is.

Happy handstands until then.

WAGS Committee

21/03/2020

Dear WAGS Families,

At WAGS, protecting the health and wellbeing of our coaches, staff and athletes is our top priority.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As the COVID-19 situation has been evolving, we have been doing everything we feel is right and responsible to manage our club. Yesterday, with the further spread of COVID-19 and the situation in NZ escalating and now the confirmed case in Northland, the committee have made the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily suspend most of our classes effective from Monday 23rd March. The decision to suspend certain classes has been based on a risk assessment of exposure and balanced with trying to keep our members active.

The suspension will currently apply to all Play Gym (Pre-school), Therapy (Special Needs), Gym Fun (Recreation), Tumble recreation and Trampoline recreation, Parkour as well as lower level Artistic Competition classes, Step1, 2 and levels 1, 2 will be suspended from Monday 23rd of March to 1st May inclusive.

All holiday programmes and gym hire for birthday parties and general hire will not be available until further notice. Effective from Monday 23rd of March.

We will be continuing higher level competition classes for those gymnasts who train 3 times per week or more.  These numbers are low and the risk level can be managed in accordance with Government regulations.   These classes include Girls STEP 3 – 7, Boys Level 3 -8, Competition Trampoline and Competition Tumble. The continuation of these classes will remain under constant review and at any stage may also be suspended. However, the decision to attend these classes remains completely optional to these members. If you or your family are feeling unwell please do not come to these classes and follow advice from the MoH.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The WAGS Committee have determined that it is in the best interest of our WAGS families, staff, coaches, volunteers and the wider community to do this. We understand that this decision is disappointing however we all have a duty of care to ensure we are doing our part to slow down this pandemic and protect our community We are all in this together and the decision has not been made lightly.

We are taking guidance from our governing body Gymnastics New Zealand who has suspended all sanctioned competitions until 1st of May.

We know that over this time with many sports and social activities cancelled, it’s super important to keep our youth active and healthy, physically and mentally. ⠀

Make the most of the daylight, get your children outside doing whatever gymnastic skills they can practise on the lawn. Feel free to post photos and videos on to our facebook page.  We would love to see what you are doing. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you so much for your understanding over this time and please continue to do your part in the community to help our government slow the spread of COVID-19.

Please see the Ministry of Health website for more information

https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus

Wash your hands, practice social distancing and don’t touch your face.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But mostly, stay calm, look after yourself and be kind to one another.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And remember, we are very lucky to live on an island in the Pacific. We have a great health system and with great communication channels and a small population, if we do our part, we have a great chance of managing this, but it relies on you! We can all make a difference.

Hopefully we'll be back in the gym before we know it.

We will keep you updated with any changes.
